So then I decided, alright, time to try my new MacBook I just got. DaVinci Resolve surprisedly doesn't support any kind of DV capturing, not sure if it ever did. So first, I tried again with my PC, download Premiere Pro 15.4 (2021 - it was oldest version of Premiere that Adobe will allow me to download, ugh Adobe). I also have a MacBook Pro M1 Pro (2021) but I'm sure that won't help since it's so new and probably won't be able to connect at all with any vintage devices like VHS/Hi8. I think it's gone from the internet for good. I can't find the official support site anymore. Although, I can't find it in Device Manager. So I know that Windows is recognizing that something is plugged in. I do hear a "chime" when connecting the Canopus with all its adapters to my PC. I do, however, remember getting this to work over a year ago but I can't remember what I did! UGH!ĭo I need additional software? I have installed firewire drivers for Windows 10, which didn't help. I have tried ANALOG and DIGITAL toggle on the Canopus switch. I have tried different IN and OUT of my Canopus. I can't with my life, get this to show up in capture.

I'm using this video for help from YouTube ( ). Adobe Premiere does have the "Canopus" option in File > Capture (F5) under DV. OBS Studio could not detect these devices. It looks like DaVinci doesn't even support capture. The input is set to ANALOG IN (I have tried DIGITAL IN as well). When I plug in the adapters into the back into DV IN/OUT to my PC. Interlaced at 640x480i resolution 29.97fps NSTC. I’m trying to capture to ProRes Apple codec as mp4 container. Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 USB-C Adapter So I have a brand new working Canopus ADVC 110 with all the adapters needed for my desktop Windows 10 PC (it has one thunderbolt 3 port in the back I/O).įirewire 400 to 800 Cable Adapter (just in case) All these tapes are family video tapes that have very high sedimental value to me.

Now I wanted to get uncompressed or super high quality interlaced quality of these tapes I have, so that I can get almost clone digital copy to my computer and use Gigapixel Video AI to deinterlace and also make an AI Upscale Quality with Video AI as well. I also have an Elgato video (VHS) capture adapter but it does "okay" quality (it automatically captures progressive MP4) but it works great. They both work great and play the tapes perfectly. I have a bunch of Hi8 and 8mm video tapes to convert to digital.
